Time management


Time management plays vital role during exams.  First of all we have to manage time for our preparation and then for each and every section of the exam itself. Lets us analyse time management, we have to qualify each section separately as every banking notification says, so time management with most examination patterns of India IBPS and SBI & Associates.

Remember you have only 120 minutes for 200 Questions for IBPS and just 135 minutes for 200 questions for SBI & SBI Associates examinations respectively. So time plays a vital role to crack an exam like this.

Have faith and confidence in yourself and be dedicated to your studies. Regular practice, speed with accuracy and proper time management will increase your level by day by while minimizing the errors.

Time Management Tips

  • Time Management is the most important skill; so don’t begin your examination with time-consuming section like Quantitative Aptitude or Test of Reasoning Ability, start with General awareness or Computers awareness or English this way you will save your valuable exam time.

  • SBI Ass Pattern- Computer awareness and Marketing awareness, majority of the questions are from previous papers, basic marketing knowledge is mandatory & hands on experience with computers will help.

  • IBPS pattern- Computer awareness & General awareness should be completed within first 20 minutes.

  • In exam hall, total time should be allocated for English is 20-25 minutes only.

Preparation Tips


  • Quantitative Aptitude exam for the clerks mostly on basic concepts of Maths. Maths book of grade 10th will be very useful.

  • How to score 35 marks very easily in Quantitative aptitude, three topics Simplifications, Number series & Number analogy & Data sufficiency.

  • Clerks: Out of 40 questions of Quantitative aptitude 20 to 25 marks are from Simplifications.

  • Clerks: avoid topics like Permutations – Combinations and Probability especially meant for POs and others like Areas, volumes.

  • PO: Out of 40 questions of Quantitative aptitude 20 to 25 marks are from Data Sufficiency.

  • Learn to remember 1- 20 Multiplication Table, 1-30 Squares and 1-15 Cubes.

  • Make short notes of your preparations, formulae, important points etc., so you can refer to it during the last minute preparations.

  • NO shortcuts works for Reasoning Ability, Practice is the only key to crack Reasoning questions.

  • Easy part of Reasoning is Non-verbal reasoning one can score 10 to 15 marks(IBPS Online exam this section is not included).

  • How to score 30 marks very easily in English try just three topics English basic Grammar, Comprehension & Vocabulary.

  • Daily 10 – 20 new words only new words related English vocabulary. Write their meaning (synonyms) and antonyms on a paper both in English as well as in your regional language.

  • How to score more in English, don’t forget to cover topics like Correction of Sentence, Jumbled Sentence, Sentence Completion, Spotting errors, Cloze test & Vocabulary.

  • Preparing for General awareness is not possible when time is less, better start well in advance more questions could be asked on subjects like Banking, Finance awareness, Economy, others like RBI, Stock Market & Central Government Schemes etc,.

  • Only way to crack question of “Test of General Awareness” form a group of like minded people, start discussing various issues on current affairs.

  • Make a habit of reading daily news papers specially “The Hindu” and be regular radio listener specially “All India Radio News” which updates you with current affairs.

  • Solving previous year question papers will help you develop time, speed, & understanding the kind of questions asked.

  • Attempt at least 2 Mock Tests, test should consists of 40 questions from each section Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning, English, General Awareness, Computer Awareness etc., before you write any bank exams.

  • Common Interview question, “Tell about RBI?”
  • Common Interview question, “What are bank rates, repo rate, reverse repo rate?”

  • Common Interview question, “What is narrow banking, mobile banking & internet banking?”
